After studying global development, doing volunteer work in Poland and traveling throughout Southeast Asia, I was inspired to launch a nonprofit organization, Karuna International.

Years later, I saw a gap in the market for media content about sustainable and conscious travel, so I created Travara.

Awards & Recognition for Travara

KARUNA INTERNATIONAL

At the age of 23, I launched Karuna International, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing global awareness among young adults. The Sanskrit word for compassion, Karuna was created to provide opportunities and scholarships for young adults to volunteer abroad responsibly, while increasing cross-cultural understanding in the US.

Our flagship program, My First Passport, was a global service-learning program that provided a global education curriculum to underserved high school students, with scholarships to travel abroad for the first time, performing service projects in countries like Brazil and Costa Rica.

Following their experience, the returned students became ‘Agents of Change’ who shared their experiences in their communities, raising money for local social impact projects of their choice.
